Chinese protestors have held a demonstration outside the Japanese embassy in Beijing against the arrest of the captain of a Chinese fishing boat by the Japan Coast Guard near the Senkaku Islands.
About 40 members of a private group that supports China's claim to the islands in the East China Sea held the protest rally for about 30 minutes from about 11 AM, local time.
They waved Chinese national flags and banners urging Japan to get out of the islands, before delivering a letter of protest to the embassy.
About 40 Chinese police officers were deployed around the embassy but no serious incidents took place.
The Japan Coast Guard arrested the captain on early Wednesday on suspicion of obstructing public duties in connection with a collision between his boat and Coast Guard patrol ship, the Mizuki, near the Senkaku Islands on Tuesday.
