Copies of the Koran were ripped or burnt in some places in the United States on the 9th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks.
An evangelical Christian preacher in Florida decided not to burn copies following protests in several countries. But 2 preachers in Tennessee set fire to copies of the Koran, saying it is a book of hatred.
Dozens of people also burned and ripped Korans near the site of the World Trade Center.
The AFP news agency says a group of Christians ripped out pages from a Koran in front of the White House in Washington DC.
The US government has made no official comment on the incidents.
