Apple unveils new model of iPad
US computer maker Apple has unveiled a new lighter model of its tablet computer iPad equipped with 2 cameras.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the product in San Francisco on Wednesday.
The 2nd-generation iPad is more portable than the original version. While it has the same screen size, it's less than 1 centimeter thick, and over 100 grams lighter, weighing about 600 grams.
The new model also comes with 2 cameras, one on each side of the device. The company says they allow the user to take photos and moving pictures, and also to conduct a video conference.
Jobs emphasized that although the new model is thinner and lighter, it has the same 10-hour battery life as its predecessor.
Launched last April, about 15 million units of the 1st-generation iPad were sold worldwide in 2010.
