ISRAEL GEMBIRA DENGAN IKRAR SYAITAN MESIR

Berita 1 : Israel welcomes Egypt pledge to honor peace treaty
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomes a pledge by Egypt's military leaders to honor its peace treaty with Israel.

On Saturday, Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which took control of the country after the resignation of former president Hosni Mubarak, announced that it will commit itself to honoring the treaty.

Following the announcement, Netanyahu said in a statement that the peace treaty signed in 1979 between Israel and Egypt is the cornerstone for peace and stability in the entire Middle East.

As one of a few Arab countries that have a diplomatic relationship with Israel, Egypt has assumed an important role in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

A senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's largest opposition party and with Islamic fundamentalist beliefs, has said the peace treaty should be reviewed.

The Israeli government is carefully watching whether anti-Israel movements will arise in Egypt.

Berita 2 : Obama welcomes Egyptian military's pledge

US President Barack Obama has welcomed the Egyptian military leaders' pledge to honor the peace treaty with Israel, stressing US support for that country, including financial assistance.

Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which took control of the country, announced on Saturday that it is committed to a democratic transition, and will honor all existing treaties.

Following the announcement, Obama separately talked on the telephone with the leaders of Britain, Jordan, and Turkey to discuss the situation.

The White House says Obama told the leaders that he welcomes the Egyptian military leaders' commitment to international obligations.
Obama added that the US will provide support for Egypt, including financial assistance, if needed for a democratic transition.

The United States is anxious about the possibility of a new Egyptian government being anti-Israel, which is the US' most important ally in the Middle East. The US government is likely to do more to ensure that Egypt does not turn anti-US or anti-Israel.
