Obama makes homecoming in Indonesia
US President Barack Obama has arrived in Indonesia, where he spent 4 years of his childhood.
Obama, with his wife Michell, arrived at an airport in Jakarta on Tuesday from India, on the second leg of his 10-day Asian tour. He was received by Indonesian government officials.
Obama has said he is eager to use this visit to strengthen ties with Indonesia, a fast-growing economy that is increasing in influence in Southeast Asia.
Later in the day he is scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, hoping to build a comprehensive bilateral partnership for broader political, economic and security cooperation.
As Indonesia has the largest Islamic population in the world, the US President plans to visit a mosque - the largest in Southeast Asia - on Wednesday.
Obama will also deliver a speech at a university stressing that his stance of seeking reconciliation with Muslim countries remains unchanged.
